Identity.
It was the first thing the snake went for, in the garden. Eve didn’t understand who she was. Once a child of God is clueless about their true identity, then you can get “scammed” left and right, just like Eve was.
It is the reason we have servants on horses, and princes on foot. Not knowing her true identity cost Eve and the entire human race a lot.Too much, as we can still see.
However, Jesus fixed all of that. Not only that, He gave you:
His seal: The Holy Spirit
His manual: The Word of God
Limitless access: prayer and communion with Him
So that you are without excuse, in not growing, in not walking.
Kings.
The carnal mind usually interprets this automatically along the lens of earthly “influence,” fame and money.
One very sad error is to think that you deserve, or will come into fame just because of that.
The enemy tries his hardest to make sure we forget the fundamental parts of our identity.
Fundamentals which by the way, includes many aspects which seem uninteresting to many these days.
Holiness
Purity
Humility
Love.
These are not all, but these are fundamentals.
Kings and Priests.
Called to be soldiers. Called to be worshippers.
Kings are trained and skilled in the art of warfare.
Priests live consecrated lives, holy, pure, and they are worshippers.
What is our real identity as believers? It is not a flippant question.
The response is not hinged on how many years you confessed Christ.
It is not hinged on who your spiritual father is. And that’s another thing; many erroneously take their spiritual identities from their spiritual fathers or “papa.” That’s absolutely not your template. At all!
I am not trashing mentorship, I believe it’s sometimes needed. Elisha had Elijah. And I definitely believe in having people who can hold you accountable.
But go and ask God if you will be judged on how much you replicated the doings of your spiritual father here on earth.. You can learn from men, but you are not called to model a man.
Ask yourself. Who am I? What is my real identity as a believer? As a child of God? As a Son?
You will find that in the Word of God. You will come into its realization and its expression by communing with Him. It’s not a sprint, it is a marathon. It is a journey.
There are no shortcuts.
No root in the Word of God? Then you have no root in Christ. Think I am stretching it? Here’s Colossians 2: 6-7.
Christ and the written Word….they are one and the same. The written Word, and the Person.
It is not enough to believe in Him. We need to be ROOTED in Him.
And that is where you are changed into His likeness, from glory to glory.
The Word of God, and communion with Him in prayer and fellowship. It is where you begin to come into the understanding and expression of your identity as a child of God, as a son.
